Victoria is a lovely little city, similar in size to Wellington, with a historic centre and friendly people.  It is nestled at the Southern end of Vancouver Island, which is very pretty, though we only saw a small part of it on this trip.

After the wedding we had a couple of days to relax, during which we drove up with Kirsten to see Flick's other good friend Shawna, who coincidentally now lives at the picturesque Shawnigan Lake with her husband Dylan, children Marlen and Avery and testosterone fuelled dog Barkely.

We also briefly visited Flick's relatives Jill and Conrad and were lucky enough to be given a tour of Conrad's amazing collection of orchids.
