Welcome

Being a well traveled sort of thing, Flick spent half a year during 1990 at Arbutus Junior High in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.  There she met Kirsten and Shawna and they became great friends.  Since leaving Canada she's kept in touch, and we were delighted to accept when Kirsten and then fianc Bill invited us to their wedding.

And what a wedding it was!  Loving, moving, beautiful, fun and executed with a precision and attention to detail that would make any project manager proud (apart, that is, from the late arrival of the bride...).  We are so grateful to Kirsten and Bill and in particular Kirsten's parents Lyn and John for being such wonderful and inclusive hosts, meaning that even Dave, who didn't know anyone, was made to feel thoroughly part of the family (and the event).

Unfortunately the wedding fell right in the middle of Flick's busiest period at work, so we were constrained to just under three weeks (1-20 September 2004, with the wedding falling on the first Saturday).  Fortunately, we scraped together enough air points for round the world tickets, which enabled us to combine the wedding with a bit of sightseeing and catching up with family and friends around the globe, including Flick's father Ken who bases himself in St John's Newfoundland for half the year, and her sister Rose and brother in law (new) Ken who recently relocated to Kent in South Eastern England.

Not wanting to waste a moment of this opportunity to explore and revisit more of the world, we set ourselves a breakneck pace and tried to cram in as much as possible.  Luckily we staved off illness and had generally benevolent weather, and this web site provides a few pictorial highlights.

Some (probably those who sojourn for months at a time under the Tuscan sun to enjoy "slow food") will frown on our "fast travel", claiming we could never understand a city, country or culture from spending so little time there.  They're absolutely right!  As far as tasters go, however, this trip hit the spot and we can't wait to get back on the road again.

Those with frail constitutions may not wish to contemplate the following statistics...
